Mission Statement

The Northeast Florida chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists mission is to unite local journalists and communication professionals to advocate and represent Black voices in print, TV, radio, and digital media, while creating opportunities and connections to lay the groundwork for future generations of journalist and media professionals.

Objectives

  • Act as a pioneer for bridging the gaps with other local media organizations.

  • Foster relationships through fellowship and network opportunities.

  • Hone journalistic skills through workshops and educational events.

  • Support and collaborate with other journalists & media professionals.

  • Provide fundamental resources and give back to the community by working with high schools, colleges, and prospective journalists through mentorship and volunteer opportunities.

The Pillars

Engage - We want to build rapport and connections throughout all subsections of the media with former members, aspiring media professionals, independent journalists, filmmakers, and more.

Creating Independence - focused on the aspect of networking and connecting journalists both traditional and independent with each other along with podcasts and other media platforms.

Investing In Our Future - Includes scholarship, mentorship, and other tangible resource investments toward increasing the volume and reach of our voice.
