MLK Remembrance and Our 2025 Vision!
A Message from Your President:
“The time is always right to do what is right.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I had the honor of attending the 40th Celebration Breakfast for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Saturday, January 18th, in St. Augustine, Florida. The motto (above) was the focus for the event. Various presenters as well as the guest speaker gave their definition of how the motto applied to today’s climate.
Their reflections served as a powerful reminder of the work still needed to create a more equitable and united future.
With our chapter, we want to exercise this motto with pure intention, as well as introduce our visionfor the year:
“Stronger Together, One Voice”
This vision highlights unity and strength, drawing inspiration from Maze’s song ‘We Are One’ and the message of being interconnected. It acknowledges the challenges of being a minority in the industry while emphasizing the power of coming together to uplift each other.
This holiday, we encourage everyone to reflect on how the principles Dr. King stood for—justice, unity, and collective action—are embodied in our vision. “Stronger Together, One Voice” is a call to uphold his legacy by building bridges, amplifying diverse voices, and fostering empowerment within our community and beyond. That starts with our chapter.
As we move forward, we invite all members, old and new, to get involved with NABJ Northeast Florida. Join us at upcoming events, participate in discussions, and take an active role in creating a stronger network of professionals here in our area. Together, we can celebrate our progress and champion a shared vision for equality and excellence.
Happy MLK Day to you and yours, and let’s not forget his legacy by doing what is right!
